Easiest way to do it:
You will need a clean, dry cotton cloth (preferably an old t-shirt), a pot with hot water, and a tub of wax. Place the tub of wax in the pot, fill with water so that 2/3 of the tub is covered, turn on the stove, and once the wax is liquid (do NOT let it boil), you are ready to waterproof. Put a little wax on the cloth and rub it well into the area you want to treat. When you are finished, let the waterproofed product sit for about 30 minutes, then you can post-treat it with a hairdryer, moving it 5cm from the item so that the wax penetrates well into the item. When you are finished, check if there is any excess wax left on the product; this can be removed with a dry cloth.
Make sure that what you are waterproofing is clean (NEVER wash your oilskin products in the washing machine).
